Join New Zealand's original mail boat

The Pelorus Mail Boat has been delivering mail by water to the residents of the Pelorus Sound/Te Hoiere in the Marlborough Sounds, at the top of New Zealand’s South Island, since 1918.

For over 100 years The Mail Run – carrying mail, along with groceries, farming supplies and tourists – has cruised the waters of the remote Sounds, creating a lifeline to the outside world for those living in areas without road access.

Join a day cruise on the mail run and meet local residents, learn the history of Pelorus Sound, spot plentiful wildlife and enjoy our beautiful and unique part of the world.

Best commute to Havelock

This was a much appreciated opportunity to sit back, relax and enjoy the gorgeous scenery and wonderful hospitality of Levon and Ti. I particularly enjoyed the informative commentary around the history and residents of Pelorus Sound.

What a fantastic experience

Skipper and crew were just so full of historical knowledge about the Sounds and we really did get involved in the journey. So glad we decided to make the effort to come to Havelock and do this. Would highly recommend it .

Those guys love their job but if they need a break I will take over. What a great job. Was a heap of fun.
